Ovid's and Shakespeare's Epitaphs
The number 34
1.
The meaning of number 34 arises from the
hexagram:
|
As the
grafic shows, the hexagram contains three double rhombi. If two of them are
arranged in the form of a cross, they can be shaped to become a octahedron:
|
|
An octahedron
is made up of 26
elements: 6 corners, 8 areas and 12 edges. If it is seen as composed by two opposite
pyramids, one half of the visible octahedron consists of 17 elements:
5
corners, 4 areas and 8 edges.
An octahedron looks like an URN to harbour the ashes of a
deceased person.
Shakespeare, too, obviously knew
this meaning of 34.
